Nikolic: Favorable conditions for investment created

BELGRADE – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said during a meeting Wednesday with a delegation of National Cash Register (NCR), a U.S.-based company, that favorable conditions for attracting foreign investors have been created over the past two years and the time has come to use the advantages of such a business climate.

"The time has come for Serbia to be led by responsible people after elections, by those who have long-term plans for our country’s development, rather than only plans from term to term,” Nikolic said at the meeting with the NCR delegation, led by NCR Executive Vice President of Services Peter Dorsman.

Nikolic said that the NCR made a good choice by deciding to invest in Serbia and it will not go wrong if it decides to invest even more, the Serbian president’s press office said in a release.

Nikolic said that successful operations of a company such as the NCR are undoubtedly enhancing Serbia’s reputation across the world and are sending a clear signal to other investors that Serbia is a modern, legally regulated country where it is possible to make business profit.

Dorsman expressed his gratitude for the support the NCR has received from Serbian authorities.

Of a total of seven European countries to choose from, the NCR opted for Serbia, believing that Serbia offers the best operating conditions and much greater benefits than other countries, including highly-skilled workforce.

The NCR Services vice president said that the company currently employs 1,000 employees, and it plans to more than double the number by the end of this year.
