KIEV -- A central part of the Ukrainian capital city, Kiev, has been turned into "a veritable war zone," B92's reporters, Aleksandra Godfroa, has said.

There is chaos in the streets, with detonations and gunshots heard, while a nearby monastery has been turned into a field hospital.

The doctors there told our reporter that the injured persons they treated were all short from firearms.

The exact number of those killed in the clashes is still unknown.

The police have blocked an entire quarter of the city around the Ukraine Hotel, where clashes broke out on Thursday.

Shots were still heard in the afternoon from this hotel, where members of parliament who come from outside of Kiev are staying.
