Vulin calls on citizens to vote for Rakic

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Aleksandar Vulin, Serbia's minister without portfolio in charge of Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), urged citizens of Kosovska Mitrovica to go to the polls on Sunday, February 23, and vote for Goran Rakic, the candidate fielded by the Citizens' Initiative Srpska (GI Srpska).

At a closing rally that was held in northern Kosovska Mitrovica on Thursday, Vulin called on eligible voters not to boycott the forthcoming elections and allow for the mayor to be elected with votes of ethnic Albanians.

He noted that by voting unanimously in the re-run of the mayoral elections in northern Kosovska Mitrovica, they would allow for the beginning of the formation of a community of Serb municipalities in the province.

It will be up to the government of the Republic of Serbia to take care about the status interests, the territory and integrity of the state, Vulin underscored.

Dr Miljana Nikolic, head of the health care center in Kosovska Mitrovoca and candidate for MP on the slate of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), also called on eligible voters to cast their ballot for the GI Srpska's candidate, Goran Rakic, as in that way they will confirm the existence and legitimacy of Serb institutions in KiM.

Head of the Kosovo District Vladeta Kostic also urged Serbs in northern Kosovska Mitrovica to vote for Rakic.

"On Sunday, we will vote for Goran Rakic because he is always there when we need him, because he is the candidate of (the GI) Srpska, and because he is backed by the Serbian government," Kostic said.
