11th Belgrade Dance Festival announced

BELGRADE -- The 11th Belgrade Dance Festival (BDF), taking place from March 30 to April 14, will feature artists at the forefront of the global dance scene.

This was announced by BDF Director Aja Jung, Tanjug is reporting.

"We are very proud of the fact that BDF will present two world premieres this year, that globally renowned choreographers chose to have the first showing of their works in Belgrade, and that for the first time we will host a dance troupe from Australia," said Jung.

"The EU Delegation to Serbia supports the BDF for the second year in a row with great pleasure, having in mind that the essence of the European integration process is bringing European nations and cultures together, under the motto of uniting cultures in all their diversity," head of the EU delegation Michael Davenport told a press conference at the Belgrade City Assembly, which was attended by numerous ambassadors.

"Music and dance are a significant part of our common and diverse European cultural heritage. Every spring for the past eleven years, Aja Jung and the BFI have brought new joy and light into our lives, and during the festival Serbia becomes the dance capital of the world," noted Davenport.

The festival under the slogan “The incredible storytelling power of the human body” opens on March 30 at the Sava Center with "One Thousand Pieces," a ballet choreographed by Alejandro Cerrudo of Spain, performed by Hubbard Street Dance.

This will be the first time for this famous Chicago-based dance troupe to perform in the region .
