Petar Lubarda's painting Battle of Kosovo on display

BELGRADE - The National Library of Serbia put on display on Thurdsay the painting The Battle of Kosovo by Petar Lubarda (1907-1974) to mark the 40th anniversary of the artist's death.

The painting was created in 1953 and is part of the library's extensive collection.

The Battle of Kosovo was painted during Lubarda's best period, between 1951 and 1956, and is considered the crown of his mythical and poetic evocation of the past.

Lubarda set the course of painting in Serbia in the second part of the 20th century, creating works of extraordinary power, colour expression, epicness, drama and eternal cosmic conflicts, the library stated.
