PKS observes 157th anniversary

BELGRADE – The Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) has launched an internal reform and stepped up activities to support businesses and improve the competitiveness of the economy, PKS President Zeljko Sertic said on the occasion of the PKS' 157th anniversary.

“Since March last year, the PKS has launched an internal reform and intensified all its activities, confirming that it is a service for businesses in their daily operations, support for strengthening market competitiveness and reliable partner to the government in its efforts to improve Serbia's business climate and investment potential,” Sertic said.

Last year, the PKS carried out about 2,200 activities with about 26,000 business participants, and it sent to the government, ministries and other state-owned institutions nearly 200 ‘initiatives’ - observations with constructive suggestions on how to improve business strategies, adopt new laws and regulations, and solve specific problems in all industry branches, he said.

International activities were intensified, the network of offices across the world reorganized, a new model of presenting the investment potential of Serbia both locally and abroad drawn up, and an investment projects and locations database project launched, he said.

“Last year, we organized more than 700 events discussing ways to improve the business environment, increase the competitiveness of Serbian economy and promote Serbia as an investment destination. Investment and export possibilities of the Serbian economy were presented at more than 70 international conferences, forums and bilateral meetings both at home and abroad,” said Sertic.
