Viminacium presented in London

BELGRADE - An exhibition presenting the Archeological Park Viminacium and the project Itinerarium Romanum Serbiae, or Roman Emperors' Route, has been opened at the Serbian House in London.

The exhibition was opened by Serbian Ambassador to the UK Ognjen Pribicevic and head of the Viminacium project Miomir Korac and it includes 18 busts of Roman emperors born on the territory of today's Serbia, which were made by Sonja Petrovic and Vuk Djurickovic, and models of a Roman legion camp in Viminacium.

The Archeological Park Viminacium has become a Serbian brand and one of the great archeological parks in Europe, Korac told Tanjug.

This park located near Belgrade is part of the science and research project Viminacium, but also of projects supported and funded by the EU.

Last year brought international recognition for Viminacium and Serbia's cultural heritage, Korac stated.

Viminacium and the project Itinerarium Romanum Serbiaewere presented in the US through a series of exhibitions entitled Journey to the Past. The exhibitions were sponsored by the Serbian government and held in Washington, New York, Boston and Chicago.

There are talks with organizers in Losanne, Geneva, Tel Aviv, Brussels, Qatar and Oman to hold the exhibition there as well.

The next stop for the exhibition will be in San Francisco in April, followed by Los Angeles in May and Washington in September.
