Vucic meets with Kohl

BERLIN/BELGRADE - Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met in Germany Thursday with the country's former chancellor Helmut Kohl to discuss Serbia's European integration and economic recovery, and Kohl said he appreciates Serbia's role in maintaining the political stability of the region.

Vucic pointed to the significant role played by German investors in Serbia and voiced confidence that Germany will continue showing support for Serbia's efforts to reach its European goal, the deputy prime minister's office said in a release.

Helmut Kohl said that he supports every effort to maintain the political stability in the Balkans and particularly appreciates the role Serbia plays in that.

The meeting was also attended by Philip Misfelder, the CDU/CSU foreign policy spokesman in the Bundestag and a member of the Bundestag's foreign relations committee.

Vucic also met with potential investors, representatives of BASF, the world's leading chemical company, in the German city of Mannheim on Thursday afternoon, with whom he discussed possible investments in Serbia, the release said.
