Citizens spend around RSD 22 million on internet daily

BELGRADE - Serbian citizens spent over RSD 22 million daily on online shopping in 2013, the data of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) show.

According to the data, around RSD 8.16 billion were spent on online shopping via local and foreign internet portals, which is by RSD 2.3 billion more than in 2012.

A total of 1,641,491 money transfers via local payment cards were recorded in 2013 and these were made in the Serbian dinar, euro, dollar, Swiss franc and British pound. Adding to that sum the transactions made in other currencies, the final number of transfers in 2013 totalled 1,681,850, Tanjug learnt in NBS.

A total of 181,701 internet payments were recorded in Serbia in 2013, adding up to around RSD 1.02 billion, the central bank released and added that the average money transfer on local websites totalled RSD 5,503.

Purchase of goods and payment of services via foreign websites accounted for 1,454,790 money transfers to the total value of around EUR 62 million in 2013, or EUR 42.7 per transfer on average, NBS said.

NBS keeps records of the purchase of goods and services via internet websites only for transfers made through payments cards.
