Double album for pianist Andrej Preger's 102nd birthday

BELGRADE - On the occasion of the 102nd birthday of professor and pianist Andrej Preger, the Faculty of Music Art has issued a double album showcasing the rich legacy of this renowned artist, Serbia's oldest living pianist.

The promotion of the double album will be held on professor Pregar's birthday at the Jewish Community building in Belgrade on March 22 at 19:00 CET, and it will be attended by his colleagues, professors of the Faculty of Music Art, former students, friends and admirers, the organizers, the Faculty of Music Art and the Jewish Community, have announced.

Pregar's double album was issued by the Faculty of Music Art, and the audio edition comprises only a number of Pregar's chamber, orchestra and solo pieces with a special focus on the interpretation of the works by domestic authors.

Pregar was born in 19111 in Pecuj, where he started taking piano lessons at the age of five.

The pianist had his first public performance when he was eight years old, and when he turned 18 he moved to Leipzig where he worked with renowned pianist Max Pauer at the Conservatory.

After WWII, he moved to Belgrade where he works and lives with his family to date. Over the last 65 years, Preger had a great number of concerts and a variety of teaching, writing and social activities.

He had a particularly fruitful cooperation with leading world artists such as Andre Navarra, Henryk Szeryng, Leonid Kogan, Daniil Shafran, Pierre Fournier, Ruggiero Ricci, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Janos Starker.
