US: Serbian Armed Forces committed to promoting peace

WASHINGTON - Serbia has clearly demonstrated its commitment to promoting peace and security by training its armed forces to participate in the international peacekeeping missions, reads the U.S. Department of State website.

The U.S. supports Serbia's efforts to implement this important mission through the global peacekeeping operation initiative, reads the report by the U.S. Department of State issued following a visit by Serbian Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic to Washington.

The Serbian authorities and heads of the military have focused on the peacekeeping operations and training over the last few years. Serbia's participation in the multinational peacekeeping operations and achieving the status of the leader in the region in military training within the UN peacekeeping operation department have made it possible to the Serbian Armed Forces to show their neighbors that they are taking concrete steps with a view to further development and contribution to the regional and international stability, reads the release.
