Bulgarians arrested in cocaine ring crackdown


Two Bulgarian nationals faced a prosecutor in Thessaloniki over the weekend after being arrested over their alleged connection to a major drug ring believed to have imported large quantities of cocaine from another European country and selling the drugs in the local market.

They were arrested on Friday in the industrial zone of Sindos on the outskirts of Thessaloniki during a major operation involving the Athens narcotics squad. One of the suspects, aged 40, was arrested while handing a suitcase containing 12 packages of cocaine over to the second suspect, aged 33.

During the operation police officers confiscated more than 11.8 kilos of the drug.
