Dacic says he does not know who would form new gov't

KOPAONIK - Ivica Dacic, Serbia's outgoing prime minister and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), said on Tuesday that he could not say which parties would form a new government, after early parliamentary elections set for March 16, and whether the SPS would be part of a ruling coalition.

“No one can say for sure how a new government would be formed. It would reflect the election results. I am only convinced that the SPS will achieve the best result since 2000, even better than in previous elections," Dacic told reporters.

He noted that in previous parliamentary elections, held in May 2012, the SPS-led coalition got 14.5 percent of the vote.

"That is important for having as much influence as possible for our arguments and our policy whether we are part of the government or not," Dacic noted.

Asked whether he regretted forming the coalition government with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and its leader Aleksandar Vucic, Dacic said that he did not regret anything.
