Finnish wiring plant opens, new investment announced

SMEDEREVO - A Finland-based manufacturer of wiring systems and electronics for commercial vehicles PKC Group opened a production facility in Smederevo on Thursday.

On the occasion, Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and President and CEO of PKC Group Matti Hyytiainen announced the opening of a second factory, new investments and 1,500 new jobs over the next three years.

This is a very important day for Smederevo and Serbia in general, Vucic said at the opening ceremony.

Vucic expressed confidence that the employees at the new factory will be hard-working and productive, and that Serbia will rise up to the challenge.

"I am grateful to the President of the Finnish company, because even when it seemed that it would not be possible to meet all the conditions, which were not easy, we have succeeded and we showed that this can be a good place for investments," said Vucic.

Vucic noted that he expects the arrival of other Finnish companies as well, pointing out that Serbia has already shown that it can be a good place to invest.
