Industrial growth totals 3.8 percent in January

BELGRADE - Industrial production in Serbia was by 3.8 percent higher in January 2014 than in the same month in 2013, but it was lower by 12.6 percent relative to the average in 2013, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (RZS) released.

Viewed according to sectors, the highest growth in January was recorded with processing industry (7.3 percent) relative to the same month in 2013, while the mining sector recorded a drop of 2.9 percent and the sector of electricity, gas and steam supply and air conditioning also dropped by 1.6 percent.

The data on industrial production viewed according to end consumer groups in January 2014 relative to January 2013 points to a 9.6 percent growth in intermediary product production, except for energy which totalled 5.2 percent and capital product which added up to 3.4 percent.

A 1.8 percent drop was recorded with the production of durable products for wide consumption, while the drop for non-durable wide consumption products totalled 3.2 percent.

The scope of industrial production in January 2014 relative to January 2013 increased in 14 areas (with the 44 percent stake in the industrial production structure), while drop was recorded in 15 sectors.

Seasonally adjusted industrial production index for January 2014 relative to December 2013 shows that the growth of industrial production totalled 1.6 percent and that the processing industry recorded an increase of 5.7 percent.

Seasonally adjusted industrial production index for January 2014 relative to the average in 2013 indicates that the growth totalled 1.3 percent, while the growth recorded in the processing industry added up to 2.7 percent.
