Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania committed to promoting cooperation

RUSE - Mutual understanding and joint action by Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria towards European decision-makers are important for all citizens of these countries, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday at the three nations' trilateral meeting in Ruse, Bulgaria.

Serbia expects the two neighbouring countries to continue their support to the process of its European integrations, he added.

The idea of a trilateral involving Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria is a good one, and countries that have an opportunity to act together should use it, Dacic said at the meeting.

Regardless of the friendship connecting our peoples and countries, attempts must be made to also identify common interests, articulate them and represent them jointly in other international forums, Dacic said.

It is a very good idea to further institutionalise and organise an initiative such as this one so that we can act towards European decision-makers as strongly as possible, Dacic said.

The Serbian prime minister thanked Romania and Bulgaria for their support to the Serbian government in the European integration process, expressing hope that Serbia will be the next country to become an EU member.

Starting the EU membership talks was our goal for many years - the current Serbian government has achieved that historic result, and our duty is to complete the negotiation process as soon as possible, Dacic said.

We would like to see all three countries share advice on how to avoid certain mistakes, and we would like you to advise us on taking different and better positions as to the negotiations and where we can better protect our economic interests, he said.
