Stable energy situation in Serbia

BELGRADE - The energy situation in Serbia is stable, and developments in Ukraine are not undermining the security of supply of energy sources, it was concluded at Tuesday's meeting of the working group tasked with monitoring the security of supply of energy and energy sources.

The existing quantities of gas and mazut are enough for the needs of the energy system by the end of the heating season, the working group notes.

The working group responsible for monitoring the security of supply of energy and energy sources, which was set up by the Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection, considered the security of natural gas supply due to the crisis in Ukraine.

The group suggested that the natural gas supply from the underground gas storage Banatski Dvor be reduced so as to keep the existing reserves, and increase direct gas imports from the Russian Federation.

If need be, thermal power plants in Serbia will be ready to substitute natural gas with mazut, the Ministry of Energy stated.
