Novak wants to play at Wimbledon as number one

Novak is again on a real champion's course. In Indian Wells he won the first title in 2014 and cut the point difference in relation to Nadal to only 2,230 points. But the race after the Spaniard is yet to begin!

For the first time since 2006, Novak came to Indian Wells without a title in the season. No doubt that made him look insecure in matches with Fernandez, Cilic and Isner. However, finally in the final match when he defeated Roger Federer we saw his mental strength in his look. We recognized his hunger for victories so characteristic for him in previous years.

 

He confirmed that too early eliminations at tournaments in Melbourne and Dubai hurt him more than ever but that he is now determined and completely ready to take the number one position of the ATP ranking again. Basically, since Marian Vajda has returned into Novak's box, he started playing much better. After the torunament in Miami as of tomorrow, Mrch 30, it shall be clear if the return of the coach with whom Novak has won all of his career titles is a reply to all questions regarding Novak's game, Namely Boris Becker who until so far has not justified the expectations will be back as the main coach in Miami.

 

- He is used to seeing me in the box. He is used to my methods, trainings and remarks during matches. It is obvious that my presence is important to him, so we shall see how thigs shall develop in the future. He has to get used to other coaches, too. That is not easy however and takes some time – Vajda says.

 

Rafael Nadal did not play in Miami last year while Novak defends twenty points only. It is important for Novak to keep distance...
