Vucic only politician fully briefed about Saric case

BELGRADE- Director of the Security Information Agency (BIA) Aleksandar Djordjevic said on Tuesday that Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who also heads the Security Agency Coordination Bureau, was the only politician with all the information regarding the search for and the arrest of indicted drug lord Darko Saric.

"He coordinated the services in terms of the direction we should take, and insisted on eliminating any security risks," Djordjevic told TV B92.

Asked if this means that the police were not involved in the operation leading to Saric's arrest, Djordjevic replied that he would not say that the police were excluded from it.

This was an operation that exceeded their regular scope of work, it was a task for security services, stressed Djordjevic.
According to BIA director, this security agency has first traced Darko Saric in late 2013.

He refused to specify the countries where Saric stayed, where he was located and arrested, considering that 18 other members of his group are still at large.

Asked to describe the circumstances under which Saric has lived over the past months, and how he acquired the money he needed to continue hiding, Djordjevic noted that any hiding from the justice is difficult, adding that the drug lord also had his share of problems.

"Sooner or later, every fugitive is brought to justice," said the director of BIA.
