Serbia did not commit genocide

BELGRADE - The Coalition of Refugee Association stated on Saturday it was not true that Serbia had committed a genocide in Croatia or that a genocide had been committed in its name, which is what head of the Croatian legal team had said before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The accusation comes from the "fake conception that Croatia was fighting a defensive and righteous war, that Serbia had attacked it and that the Serbs in Croatia were an occupying force on their own land," said the coalition, which comprises associations of Serb refugees from Croatia.
"The truth is that the separatist and anti-Serbian political agenda of Franjo Tudjman's regime caused the civil war in order to destroy the Serbs and create a Croatian state without or with the least possible number of Serbs," says the statement signed by coalition leader Miodrag Linta.

"That is why the Serbian people had a legitimate right to use weapons to defend themselves from the pro-Ustasa regime of Franjo Tudjman," the coalition said.

The Ustasas were Croatian Nazis who ruled Croatia during World War Two and committed a genocide against the Serbs, Jews and Roma.

The coalition says the Serbs pointed out that a significant part of the Croatian society did not accept the truth about the events from 1990 to 1995, that a genocide had been committed against the Serbs in Croatia and that Croatia should therefore be found guilty.
"The Serbian people want an honest reconciliation with the Croatian people, but that is impossible as long as Croatia refuses to accept the past and address standing issues," the coalition stated.
