Ukrainian right-wing militant leader shot dead

KIEV -- Ukrainian right-wing militant leader Oleksandr Muzychko aka Sashko Bilyi has been shot dead during a police raid, RT is quoting Ukraine’s Ministry of Interior.

Muzychko was killed in Rovno, western Ukraine, where he coordinated actions of local groups belonging to the nationalist Right Sector movement, according to RT, which cited "a national Ukrainian news media outlet."

Muzychko was on an international arrest warrant for taking part in attacks against Russian military personnel, Itar-Tass reported.

He was charged after Russian investigators discovered he had tortured and murdered no less than 20 Russian soldiers in the Caucasus.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Oleksandr Muzychko for participation in combat actions on the side of Chechen warlords Khattab and Basayev against Russian servicemen, Itar-Tass said.

Muzychko was also known for taking part in putting up barricades in Kiev during anti-government protests there. Last weekend, the Right Sector became a party, while its leader, Dmytro Jarosch, intends to run in presidential elections scheduled for May 25.
