Serbia, U.S. sign plan for bilateral military cooperation

BELGRADE - A new plan for bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and the United States for fiscal 2015 was signed in Belgrade on Wednesday.

The plan was signed by official at the Department for International Military Cooperation Col. Milan Konjikovac and U.S. Defense Attache to Serbia Col. Paul Brotzen.

According to the plan, in the coming period the cooperation will focus on "further support to the defense system reform, and improvement in the operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces".

The plan was signed at the close of the main conference for planning activities of bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and the U.S. for fiscal 2015 or the period starting from October 1 this year to September 31 next year.
The conference brought together members of the Defense Ministry, Serbian Armed Forces and U.S. Armed Forces from the U.S. European Command and the Ohio National Guard.

During the meeting, officials analyzed the results that the cooperation has yielded so far, guidelines based on the conclusions from top-level visits, problems that occurred during the realization of activities and needs of the defense system.
Officials concluded that there is still room for improvement in cooperation, which is illustrated by a great number of activities that have been harmonized so far, joint exercises, trainings, development of the base "South" and advancement of non-commissioned officers.

It was estimated that there is room for further improvement in cooperation through exchange of experiences and arrangements in the field of cyber space security and opportunities for joint engagement of medical teams, the Serbian Ministry of Defense posted on its website.
