Vojvodina adopts draft development programme for 2012-2020

NOVI SAD - The Vojvodina government has adopted a draft decision on the development programme for the Serbian province in the period between 2012 and 2020, including an action plan for implementing programme priorities, the press bureau of the provincial government said in a statement.

Implementing the action plan projects will cost an estimated RSD 170 billion, with around 22 billion to be obtained from the provincial budget and the rest to come from the budgets of the EU, the Republic of Serbia and local authorities.

Vojvodina's development programme will serve as a basis for negotiations with donors and foreign direct investors on investment types and locations and support measures from the provincial government for specific types of investments, as well as on co-funding.

The document will represent a significant starting point for a proactive policy regarding Serbia's EU accession, with particular focus on Vojvodina, the statement said.

Adopting this document can ensure a timely contribution to balanced regional development, the statement also said.
The draft decision has been tabled to the Assembly of Vojvodina, which should adopt it following discussion at a session scheduled for April 4.
