Belgrade Dance Festival kicks off on Sunday

BELGRADE - The eleventh edition of the Belgrade Dance Festival (BDF), featuring artists at the forefront of the global dance scene, will take place from March 30 to April 14.

The festival under the slogan "The incredible storytelling power of the human body" opens on Saturday at the Sava Center in belgrade with 'One Thousand Pieces', a ballet choreographed by Alejandro Cerrudo of Spain, performed by Hubbard Street Dance.This will be the first time for this famous Chicago-based dance troupe to perform in the region.

The Akram Khan Company from Great Britain will present their latest production based on the music by Igor Stravinsky on April 5, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens of Montreal will perform 'Minus One' by Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin on April 11.

The Great Canadian Ballet of Montreal is also set to perform in Novi Sad on April 12.

At the Madlenianum Opera and Theater, the Belgian dance company of Michele Noiret will appear at BDF for the first time, and present a piece inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's silent films 'Minutes Opportunes'.

Ballet Augsburg of Germany will perform 'ShadowPlay' by the Israeli choreographer with a permanent address in the Netherlands Itzik Galili on April 9 at Madlenianum, and a day later in Vrsac.

The Swiss company Zimmermann and de Perrot, set to perform at the Terazije Theater on March 31 and April 1, will offer a mix of wordless theater, dance, acrobatics, and absurdity in their 'Hans was Heiri'.

The same stage will host the first troupe from Sydney to perform at BDF - Shaun Parker and Company present 'Happy as Larry' on April 7.
