Nikolic: Investments needed for healthy economy

BELGRADE - With sufficient investments from abroad, our economy will be healthy again and the fundamental task of the state is to ensure a business environment that is as favourable as possible to investors, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said on Friday in discussions with a delegation of representatives of foreign companies.

The delegation included Oiltanking managing and marketing directors Sven Thiessen and Christian Kranz, Inway's Dejan Stankovic and Djordje Mihajlovic and Grimex Consult CEO Ivan Gros.

The reforms it has initiated make Serbia a good place for investments because it is open to the entire world, in particular, to the major global markets, Nikolic said.

He welcomed Oiltanking's interest in investing in Serbia, and said that he is always pleased to see foreign companies find their interests in investing in Serbia's economy.

That clearly shows that Serbia is becoming an orderly country and one that is globally recognised as such, Nikolic said.

Thiessen said that Oiltanking has been received in Serbia in the best possible way and that it has managed to make many business contacts in a short period of time.

He presented the German company's plans to improve Serbia's infrastructure for storing oil and oil derivatives and make long-term investments in the country's economy.
