Greek Film Week on April 23-28

BELGRADE - Marking the Hellenic presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Greek Film Week will take place from April 23 to 28 in Belgrade, under the title “Images from the past, vision of the future”.

The Greek Film Week is organized by the Embassy of Greece, Serbia's Ministry of Culture, the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia and the EU Info Center, Dom Omladine and the Film Archive in Belgrade, the Greek Film Archive, the Hellenic Film Center, the Hellenic Business Association and the Hellenic Cultural Center in Belgrade.

The event is scheduled to open on Wednesday, April 23, with the screening of the 1953 “Barefoot Battalion” at the Film Archive.

During the Greek Film Week, the viewers will have a unique opportunity to learn more about the dominant topics that have marked the Greek cinema in its early years, but also the contemporary works of cinematic art addressing economic and social issues related to the economic crisis.

Announcing the event, the Embassy of Greece expressed satisfaction with the fact that the film enthusiasts in Serbia will for the first time gain insight into the continuity and lasting creativity of the Greek cineastes.
