Our children are increasingly immature

The children starting going to school are every year heavier in weight. They read, write and know numbers better, but in spite of that they are emotionally increasingly immature.

According to data by the Republican Institute for Sport (RZS) from the year of 2009, the children were heavier in weight compared to those from 1996.

 

- Children of seven to fourteen are by about three percent taller. Unfortunately, their body mass has been increased by eleven to fourteen percent. On the other hand their physical capabilities are increasingly weaker. Boys are by about six percent and girls by even twelve percent motorically less developed than it was the case with children from 1996 – Aco Gajevic. RZS Assistant Director says.

 

The general health check from the year of 2012 carried out on 213,137 children showed that every fifth child had pure posture. Even 15.4 percent of children had spine deformity and 17.6 percent feet deformity. Caries was found with 14.2 percent of pupils.

New results in May

After research carried out in 2009, the plan was to make the next reasearch within ten years. However, due to alarming situation with children starting to attend compulsory school, the new research has begun as early as now.
- The research is to be completed in a month and a half and it shall include about 1,000 children from city and suburb compulsory schools. The research shall follow physical development of children and their motoric capabilities. In the middle of the year we shall be able to compare the new results with those from 2009 – Aco Gajevic...
