CCTV captured footage of bomber, attack on Bank of Greece


Police sources confirmed on Friday that CCTV cameras at the Bank of Greece and another lender in central Athens recorded parts of Thursday morning’s car bomb attack.

The footage shows a Nissan Sunny being parked outside the central bank headquarters and the driver emerging from the vehicle wearing a helmet.

He then quickly got onto a Yamaha XT motorcycle that sped off, driven by another person.

Two people are also seen riding a second motorcycle. They are thought to have been the backup team.

The Nissan is then seen exploding.

Police have drawn parallels between the 74-kilo bomb and similar incendiary devices set by the Revolutionary Struggle urban guerrilla group in the past. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack by last night.
