Dacic expects meeting with Vucic over weekend

SREMSKA KAMENICA - Leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic expects that over the weekend he will meet leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic to discuss in detail a government program and candidates for ministerial posts.

Dacic believes that the talks on the formation of a new government will be intensified next week, as the constitutive session of the Serbian parliament has been scheduled for April 16.

Everything depends on the SNS leader though, Dacic said.

Asked whether he sticks to the stand that he will not enter a coalition government with leader of the New Democratic Party (NDS) Boris Tadic, Dacic told reporters in Sremska Kamenica that he does not mind the SNS calling whomever they want to take part in the government.

The SPS leader said that he does not have a problem with the will of the people demonstrated in the March 16 parliamentary elections that made it clear how much support each party enjoys.
"The government does not depend on whether a parliamentary majority will be formed or not, as it already exists. Everything else is a matter of agreement," Dacic said.

Any conditioning is politically irresponsible if there is the policy of the majority, Dacic said, underscoring that the SPS and the SNS have correct relations, and had correct talks.

"We are ready to help, if we are needed. And if we are not needed, it will be my honor to head the largest opposition party in the parliament," Dacic concluded.
