Dodik, Selakovic discuss better cooperation

BELGRADE/BANJA LUKA - Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik and Serbia's Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic have discussed in Banja Luka ways of improving the cooperation between RS and Serbia.

The two agreed that the joint meetings of the RS and Serbian governments should be more efficient, and that there was willingness on both sides to act together on many issues, like legislation and joint market appearances.

The cooperation can be particularly visible in the judiciary, since many of the laws both sides have can be harmonized, Selakovic noted, according to a release from the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration.

Right after the formation of a new government, Serbia faces extensive and painful reforms, for which it requires the full support of its people, he pointed out.

Public notaries will be introduced in Serbia on September 1, and it will be very important to exchange experiences in that area with RS, since it introduced them several years ago, he remarked.

After the meeting, Selakovic attended a reception hosted by Dodik, which was organized to mark the annual plenary session of the commission of European affairs of the International Union of Notaries (IUN) in Banja Luka.

Selakovic will attend the meeting of the IUN, held in Banja Luka on Friday and Saturday.
