IMF calls for more structural reforms

Structural reforms are the way out of the financial crisis for Greece, according to the International Monetary Fund, whose Managing Director Christine Lagarde said that «the journey is not over, there are still more structural reforms to implement and plenty of work to be done on the way."

Recognizing that Greek people, and particularly the younger generation, «are banging their heads against the wall of unemployment,» the head of the IMF said that this is the first time Greece is recording growth and a rise in exports since the start of the crisis.

The fact the the country has returned to the international bond markets and borrowed at a «decent interest rate» is another indication that ‘something good is happening,’ as she told a press conference at the fund’s Spring Meeting in Washington that concluded late on Sunday.

"My hope is that as confidence returns, investments will increase and create jobs,» she added.
