Awards handed out to best young scientists

BELGRADE - The International conference of young scientists, which was a major success for the Belgrade 2 Regional Talent Centre, ended on Tuesday with an award ceremony.

The conference involved young scientists from 18 countries worldwide, including Germany, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Singapore and Indonesia.

The nine-member team of the Belgrade 2 Regional Talent Centre won seven medals - two gold, three silver and two bronze medals - which is a historic success for the institution and Serbian science in general.

Presenting their research papers, the young scientists competed in theoretical and applied physics, mathematics, computer science, environmental protection and the sciences of life - biology and chemistry.

The director of the talent centre Nikola Srzentic said that a total of 102 competitors from 18 countries took part in the event, and that their presentations and papers were evaluated by a five-member international panel consisting of professors of many universities and experts from several fields.

The 21st iteration of the conference was to be held in Ukraine, but due to recent developments there, the event was moved to Belgrade, Srzentic said.
