Greek doctors asked for clarifications over costly prescriptions


One hundred doctors who worked with the now defunct healthcare provider EOPYY have been asked to justify the number of prescriptions they issued, it emerged on Thursday.

The Health Ministry said it has sent letters to the doctors as they topped the lists for the cost of the prescriptions they issued.

They have five days to respond to the ministry’s request for clarification.

The doctor that topped the list issued prescriptions worth 57,911 euros to 468 patients, which was about 13 times higher than the average for doctors with the same specialty.
