Festival to Seduce Bucharest's Jazz Lovers

Twenty-two bands from 21 countries all around the world are to perform live next month in Bucharest in EUROPAfest, one of the most important jazz festivals in Eastern Europe.

Under the banner “100 per cent jazz and more”, the event will bring a wealth of international musicians and bands to Romania’s capital between 17 and 24 May, with many concerts, jam sessions and workshops being scheduled.

The festival will feature UK’s Alex Hahn & The Blue Riders, Mike Davison from the US, Mosaico Jazz Trio, from Spain, Russia's Jazz Bezz B and Cafearia from Italy, among others.

“If jazz means versatility, force and freedom through excellence, our festival is a true explosion of colour and energy. Everything is spontaneous, based on inspiration, talent and on the spot improvisation. We want to show that jazz can thrill and captivate people, provoke them,” the official festival website said.

Concerts at Bucharest’s ninth EUROPAfest will be held at several places around the city – Excelsior Theatre, Odeon Theatre, but also in some less conventional spaces such as cafes.
