Media laws to come before new Serbian gov't soon

NOVI SAD - Draft media laws will soon be presented to the new Serbian government and forwarded to the parliament in the shortest possible time, State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and Information Gordana Predic said Friday.

“Media laws need to be passed, considering that the regulatory framework for the media should have been presented over a year ago,” she told reporters at the international expert conference “Regional Media in Southeastern Europe” in Novi Sad.

Predic noted that the draft laws are to be assessed by the relevant European institutions in Brussels. After considering possible suggestions from abroad, as well as from Serbia, and potential harmonization, the media laws will come before the parliament, said Predic.
