Attack on EULEX vehicles, reaction of Serbs, Office for KiM

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Two EULEX vehicles were attacked on the road to the Brnjak crossing in Zubin Potok municipality, northern Kosovo, but nobody was injured in the incident, EULEX Spokesperson Irina Gudeljevic told Tanjug on Saturday.

The incident occurred some time around 8 p.m. on Friday, Gudeljevic said but she did not disclose any further details.
Nobody was injured in the attack, and the Mitrovica operative group is looking into the case, she said.

The attack on EULEX vehicles occurred some ten days after representatives of northern Kosovo local self-government declared the EULEX police undesirable in the northern part of the province.

Representatives of local self-governments from northern Kosovo-Metohija and the administrative team in charge of constitution of the municipality of Serb communities fiercely condemned the armed attack on the EULEX vehicles.

Such incidents are detrimental to the Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and the efforts to realise the basic rights of Serbs and other non-Albanian people by democratic means which aim to normalise life in the area, they said in a release and called on competent bodies and the international community to find and punish the attackers.

The attack in the village of Banje, in the vicinity of the Brnjak crossing, was also condemned by the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, which noted that it is a fortunate circumstance nobody was injured in the incident.

Whoever did this caused damage, primarily to Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and the efforts which the Serbian government and Kosovo Serbs are investing in normalisation of life in the province, states the release.
