Dacic hands over duty to Vucic

BELGRADE - The handover of the prime minister's duty was completed in the Serbian government on Tuesday, and former prime minister delivered the office to newly-appointed Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

Handing over the duty and the report on the government's work to Vucic, Dacic said that he is satisfied with the cooperation maintained so far and the results achieved by the government, as well as the new image of Serbia in the world as it is no longer seen as a problem but as a county which solves problems.

There is a lot of work to do for the prime minister because Serbia will chair OSCE in 2015 and take part in the EU-Western Balkans summit in Greece, he said.

Vucic said that the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe would also cover Ukraine and added that the newly-appointed minister of foreign affairs would support the difficult but principled stand of Serbia on the matter.

”The minister of foreign affairs will have major obligations, just like other government members,” Vucic said.

Vucic and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dacic announced a period of abundant diplomatic activity and emphasised the importance of visit of High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton who backed the new government.

Noting that he nominated Dacic for the position of the foreign minister, Vucic announced that EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele would visit Serbia soon.

Vucic said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan should also visit Serbia soon to continue the work on the project of construction of the plant for production of plane parts in Pancevo and the City on Water project.
