Merkel congratulates Vucic, invites him to visit Berlin

BELGRADE - German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated Aleksandar Vucic on taking over as Serbian prime minister, announcing that her government will continue to provide strong support to Serbia on its path of reforms and European integrations.

I wish you and the citizens of your country much strength and resolve for the upcoming tasks and implementing the necessary reforms in particular, Merkel said in her message to Vucic.

Success in those efforts will provide a new impetus in the EU accession process and contribute to further normalisation of good-neighbourly relations with Kosovo, the German chancellor said.

The federal government of Germany will continue to support your country on that path in the future - it would be my pleasure to receive you soon during a visit to Berlin, Merkel said in the congratulatory message.
