Russian machines for railroad repairs arrive in Serbia

RUMA - The Serbian Railways management presented in Ruma, in the northern province of Vojvodina, the first contingent comprising 29 out of 100 most up-to-date Russian machines which will be used in repairs and construction of railroads in Serbia.

The machines will be first used on the Ruma-Golubinci section of Corridor 10 and the works will begin in late June, Director General of Serbian Railways Dragoljub Simonovic stated at the reception to promote Russian machines at the Ruma railway station.

He noted that the works on the Sopot Kosmajski-Kovacevac section of Corridor 10 would begin in late June and should be completed in late January 2015.

Simonovic announced that 71 more machines sent by the Russian State Railways RZD International should arrive in July and August which will be used in works on the Corridor sections funded by the Russian USD 800 million loan.

The machines were produced by the Russian company Remputmash and it will be used for removal and installation of the tracks in keeping with the Russian technology and regulations of the Serbian Railways.

Aleksandar Borisovich Rilski as RZD International first deputy director general said that the Russian technology would be implemented in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Montenegro.

He noted that a number of Serbian companies will be hired within the projects and that the transport of goods from Western Europe would considerably increase after the completion of the works.
