Miscevic: Serbian government has Berlin's support

BERLIN - The Serbian government, headed by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, has Berlin's full political support, Serbia's chief EU negotiator Tanja Miscevic has said.

"We are very pleased with the discussions in Berlin, and no one we have spoken to in Germany had a negative stance on whether Serbia can complete the negotiation process with the European Union by the end of 2018, as planned," Miscevic told Tanjug in Berlin on Wednesday.

Miscevic, the first official of the new Serbian government to visit Berlin, met with German politicians in charge of EU enlargement issues and the EU policy of the German government and the Bundestag, as well as with representatives of civil society organisations in Germany.

She spoke to Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, chief adviser for European affairs in the German Chancellery, Michael Roth, minister of state at the Foreign Office and members of the Bundestag committee on European affairs.

Miscevic also met with Christoph Retzlaff, head of the EU enlargement department at the Foreign Office, and Jorg Bentmann, head of the EU department at the Federal Ministry of Interior.

Miscevic spoke to Social Democratic Party representatives in the Bundestag Achim Post, Dietmar Nietan and Axel Schafer, and Christian Democratic Union representative Peter Beyer.

She also met with Philipp Mißfelder, the CDU/CSU foreign policy spokesman in the Bundestag, and Bernd Huttemann, Secretary General of the European Movement in Germany.
