Ruzic best regional politician in EU integration sphere

BELGRADE - The Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) European Movement named Serbian former minister in charge of the EU integration process Branko Ruzic the best regional politician in the EU integration sphere.

Ruzic was presented with the recognition at a ceremony organized by the BiH European Movement on Wednesday marking Europe Day dubbed “It is time for Europe and regional cooperation”.

The Movement's explanation of the recognition reads that during the term of office of the previous government, when Ruzic was a minister in charge of the European integration, Serbia made the most decisive step not only towards the membership, but also in overall efforts towards Europeanisation of the society and occasions in the region, the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), of which he is a member, said in a release.

Moreover, the Movement highlights the constructive role of not only Ruzic, but also the entire Serbian government in promotion of regional cooperation, the statement reads.

Ruzic underlined at the ceremony in Sarajevo that he does not see the award as personal, but rather the one of the entire Serbian government for its achievements in the EU integration area.

“This recognition is not a compliment, but rather a pledge for even greater responsibility in the public work that I preformed, and which I will continue to do as representative of the citizens in the Serbian parliament,” he said.

“As long as every one of us makes a small step towards Europe day by day, we can expect that the entire region will make progress in the EU integration process,” Ruzic said and congratulated other winners of the recognitions.
