Stefanovic received award Najevropljanin 2013

BELGRADE - Nebojsa Stefanovic, Serbian Minister of the Interior who up until recently held office as the Serbian parliament speaker, won the recognition Najevropljanin 2013 (Best European of the Year) for politics.

Stefanovic won the award for improvement and promotion of European standards in parliamentary democracy and the recognition was delivered to him in the City Assembly late on Wednesday.

Receiving the award, Stefanovic said that he is deeply honoured by the recognition and is proud that he was part of the team that invested efforts to ensure that Serbia makes a major step ahead on its EU path.

Serbia has decided to make an important step ahead in the EU accession through the work of the legislative and executive government which will make it possible for the society to become modern and better-organised and to ensure better living for the country's citizens, Stefanovic said.

We are about to face talks which should make it possible for Serbia to develop fast and efficiently and implement reforms which will ensure better living for citizens and future generations of the country, he underscored and expressed the hope that Serbia would become a part of the EU family by 2020.

The Najevropljanin 2013 award for economy went to President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Zeljko Sertic for the strengthening of the role of business subjects and promotion of Serbia's economic potentials.

In the category of creditable foreign citizens, the award went to German Ambassador Heinz Wilhelm for the work he has done in Serbia.
