Ljajic: First contracts between Serbian and UAE companies

BELGRADE - Serbian companies have signed their first preliminary contracts with companies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Serbia's Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic has said.

Ljajic met on Monday with officials of 20 companies from the UAE, of which some have already opened and others have said that they would open their offices in Serbia.

"We discussed construction of shopping centres and hotels in Belgrade, but also hotels in some mountain resorts in Serbia," Ljajic told reporters.

The meeting held in Belgrade was also used to discuss export of Serbian agricultural commodities to the Arab market and potential for cooperation in the construction and IT industries, he noted.

The delegation includes officials of a large pharmaceutical company interested in purchasing Serbian companies in that industry, Ljajic stated, adding that there was also a possibility for cooperation in the real estate industry.
