Netherlands approves EUR 500,000 grant to Serbia

NOVI SAD - The Dutch government has made a decision to provide Serbia with a grant of EUR 500,000 to help flood relief efforts, Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans stated in Novi Sad on Tuesday.

Timmermans, whose country is this year's partner to the agricultural expo in Novi Sad, said at the opening ceremony that he is much worried about the sufferings that Serbia has faced these days.

The Netherlands has turned water from its centuries-long enemy into its greatest ally, the Dutch foreign minister said, stressing that the country is willing to share with Serbia its valuable experience in this area.

Our countries are connected with the importance of the agricultural sector, he said, stressing that he is grateful that the Netherlands has been offered an opportunity to become a partner of the 81st International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad.

I sincerely hope that this expo will contribute to fostering of the overall bilateral cooperation, Timmermans said in his address in the Serbian language.
