RCC donates funds for Serbian, Bosnian flood victims

SARAJEVO - The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) has made two EUR 80,000 donations for flood victims in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, respectively.

The funds were donated on Monday to assist rescue and rebuilding efforts and help the countries recover from the disaster.

The scale of the natural disaster that has hit the region is tragic, RCC Secretary-General Goran Svilanovic said.

Unfortunately, the loss of life is the greatest, irreparable damage - many people have lost their homes, and the material damage is enormous, the RCC said in a statement.

The period of rebuilding that lies ahead will be hard and difficult, and will also require material assistance to the flood-hit countries, the statement said.

The RCC will provide full support to the governments of the two countries in their quest for funds needed to rebuild the flood-hit areas and help life there return to normal, the statement said.

The Sarajevo-based RCC has 46 member states.
