Terrorist Attack Leaves 31 Dead in China’s Xinjiang
A terrorist attack in the northwestern Chinese city of Urumqi, Xinjiang region, has left 31 people dead and over 90 injured.
Authorities say that two vehicles crashed into a market full of people, while at the same time explosive devices were thrown, according to the BBC.
"Witnesses said two cross-country vehicles driving from north to south ploughed into people in the market at 07:50 local time. Explosives were thrown out of the vehicles," the Xinhua agency reported.
Xinjiang is an autonomous region, home to a Muslim Uighur community. It has seen a series of terrorist attacks over the past year. In October, a similar attack on Tiananmen Square in the capital Beijing left 5 people dead, for which a number of Uighurs were suspected.
