The first exit-poll results, broadcast at 21.00 EEST, were met with applause at the headquarters of the Social Democrat Party (PSD) where Prime Minister Victor Ponta, also chairman of the party, honorary chairman Ion Iliescu, executive chairman Liviu Dragnea, as well as other MPs, ministers and future MEPs were present.

"43 percent is an outcome that shows appreciation for governing, it shows that it was a good campaign. I'm sorry for PNL, this shows the mistake they made when exiting the USL. The citizens sanctioned them (...) Ultimately, it is the largest score PSD ever had", said Liviu Dragnea after hearing the results of the exit-polls.

According to him, if PNL was part of USL, the European Parliament elections' outcome would have been 60 percent.

"If we were in USL, we would now have 60 percent and it would have been a confirmation of good governance. Mircea Diaconu has as much as the People's Movement Party. These are the two big mistakes of Crin Antonescu — he took PNL out of USL and did not keep Mircea Diaconu on the lists. The citizens punished them. Compared to the 20 percent they had in last years, now they're at 14 percent", said the executive chairman of PSD, adding that he awaits the official results.

Furthermore, he explained that on a county-level the restoration of USL is desired and noticed that amongst the Liberals there is dissatisfaction with the decision of the PNL leadership to exit USL.

"Today I was together with all my colleagues through the country, I've been with the Prime Minister and [there was] so much dissatisfaction and grief that a political project was built for three years at a county level, at a local level.
