Karditsa scrapyard owner charged over stolen copper cables

The 49-year-old owner of a scrapyard in Karditsa, central Greece, was charged with theft and handling stolen goods after authorities confiscated more than 400 kilograms of copper cabling stripped from railway tracks from his warehouse on Saturday.

The raid on the suspect’s business came as part of a broader crackdown on the widespread theft of copper cables from the country’s railway network, which has raised safety concerns.
