UPDATED 2014EP Final voter turnout at European Parliament elections 32.16 percent (Electoral Bureau)

The overall turnout of Romanian voters at the European Parliament elections on Sunday was 32.16 percent at 9 p.m., when the polls closed, according to data of the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).

The turnout was 28.69 percent in urban areas and 36.88 percent in rural areas.

According to the BEC, 26.93 percent of the registered voters of Bucharest cast their votes; by district, the figures were 34.53 percent in District 1; 27.69 pct in District 2; 24.98 pct in District 3; 26.62 pct in District 4; 21.93 pct in District 5; and 27.78 pct in District 6.

By counties, the highest turnouts were seen in Olt — 46.57 percent, Ilfov — 42.26 pct, Mehedinti — 40.17 pct, Teleorman — 39.84 pct; and Girugiu — 39.12 pct.

The lowest turnouts were registered in Maramures — 25,31 percent, Tulcea — 27.12 pct, Ialomita — 27.66 pct, Timis — 27.94 pct, and Vaslui — 28.,22 pct.
