Reunion of JHA ministers of SEECP countries in Bucharest

Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) ministers of the countries participating in the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) reunite on Wednesday and Thursday in Bucharest at the Parliament Palace to tackle the regional cooperation on illegal migration and human trafficking, police collaboration, fight against corruption, and enhancement of judicial cooperation.

According to a release of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) sent on Wednesday to Agerpres, the event is included in the calendar of activities related to the current Presidency of SEECP held by Romania in 2013-2014.

The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Gabriel Oprea will deliver a speech on Thursday in the opening of the reunion.

Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs of the 12 SEECP member states—Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey — are invited to the reunion.

Special guests are also participating on behalf of the European Commission, the Council of Europe, Europol, Eurojust, the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), FRONTEX, the South-East European Law Enforcement Centre (SELEC) and UNODC — UN Office for Drugs and Criminality.

The SEECP is a non-institutionalized regional cooperation structure. Romania has already held its Presidency for two terms, in 1999-2000 and 2004-2005.

The SEECP works under the Charter on good neighborly relations, stability, security and cooperation in Southeastern Europe, signed in Bucharest on February 12, 2000. AGERPRES
